My favorite time of year is Autumn/Fall. The weather is starting to cool down, the leaves are starting to change, summer clothes are being put away until next year, and the smells of Fall fill the air—well, that is if you do NOT live in Scottsdale, AZ. The temperature is well over 100 degrees, the cactus do not change colors, winter clothes are only put to use for about two months, and the only smells of Fall come from candles and baked goods. Being that it is September, I lit a pumpkin spice candle and baked Maple Pecan Cookies that SCREAM Fall—or was that me? Either way, these cookies filled the void of a wood burning fire by making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The smell took me back to my childhood days in the Midwest and I immediately fell into a daydream of Autumn/Fall scenic postcards.
Whether you are melting in 100 degrees or pulling rakes out of the shed to build leaf mounds to jump into, make these cookies. Better yet, make them twice. Share the Autumn/Fall love, especially with those less fortunate to see seasons change.
