How I Fell in Love with Nutrition
I have an immense passion for nutrition and helping others and it all began with a thyroid disease called Hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed when I was in third grade and never experienced the symptoms until high school. With zero energy I knew there had to be an alternative. I had always played sports my entire life, eaten whatever I wanted, and never saw a problem. With my thyroid disease, eating fast food and going out to dinner all the time was not an option anymore, including the early college years of going out to clubs and drinking. At a routine appointment with my Endocrinologist, he did an ultrasound of my thyroid and discovered cysts, benign, but abnormal growths nonetheless. I did not take this lightly and the change came when I began researching natural alternatives for hypothyroidism to avoid taking medication the rest of my life, and I stumbled across Veganism. I decided to give it a shot and quit the S.A.D (Standard American Diet) cold turkey, and I even toyed around with Raw Veganism for a while. I went back and forth from extremely strict vegan to pescatarian.
