I am currently in between classes right now at school and thought that I would tell all of you about the wine dinner that I went to this weekend with my family. Trust me, I need a break from trying to cram this into my brain:
I apologize for the poor quality of the photos. Every photo was taken with my iPhone in a very dark restaurant and I do not have the patience right now to edit them to be brighter.
A little history of Robert Craig for anyone who is curious… Robert Craig Winery is located in Napa Valley where they produce Cabernet Sauvignon. And that’s about it– let’s be real, wine is not that serious. It is delicious, you drink it, and it makes you feel amazing! Each wine was paired with a different course. Any course that included meat or meat products were vegetarianized for my sister and I.
As my mom, dad, sister, cousin, and boyfriend walked through the door we were greeted with champagne to cleanse the palate and were seated at a large table with a few of my parent’s friends.
The first course was Seared Sea Scallops with brown butter gnocchi with wilted greens, paired with a chardonnay that exemplified a strong sage note. Did I impress you? My sister is actually the one who pinpointed the sage note.
I can’t even tell you what the different flavor profiles and notes of the wine after this glass of wine. I have had their butternut squash ravioli multiple times and am always completely satisfied. They make all of their raviolis fresh, in house, every morning.
We spent the next hour or so laughing hysterically at each other and finishing off all of our wine before heading home. I say this over and over again, but I have the best family in the world. The fact that there is never a dinner that we do not laugh with each other to the point of tears and enjoy bottles of wine together is a perfect night to me.
Here are a few photos of my crazy family in action:
